by S Lowe 5 THE FM wattlerangenow

A free skin cancer screening will be provided by the Lions and Lioness Clubs of Millicent on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December at the Millicent Hospital.

This is a free service and people over the age of 20 years of age are invited to consider the following points to see if they are at risk, a family member has had a malignant melanoma, you have five or more moles on your forearms, previously had moles removed that were not cancers, previously had skin cancer, a mole or freckle which is changing in shape, size or colour, fair skin that always burns rather than tan, had blistering sunburn as a child enough to stay off school, any inflamed skin sores that do not heal.

The screening will be carried out by 3 qualified Screeners  from the Flinder’s Medical Centre and their visit is  sponsored by Lions.

Research shows that 10,000 people are diagnosed with skin cancer per year in Australia and mostly in the ages of 19-55.
