Past Presidents Christmas Social
Past presidents from many clubs in the LSEBA were represented when they met for the Past President’s Christmas Social competition at the Millicent Bowling Club on Monday 9th . December . 64 bowlers took part in the contest.
The winners were a team from Mt Gambier, with a local team comprised of Margaret Johnson (Past President), Brian Johnson, Mary Campbell & Iain Campbell being runners up.
Inaugural ‘Bill Davis Shield’
The inaugural ‘Bill Davis Shield’ was played out on Thursday 12th December between 42 bowlers. These included 38 Millicent bowlers, Barry McKinnon from Kingston & Phil Dowdell, Peter Rice & Graham Casey visited from Kalangadoo.
The play took place on the Hahn Green using a 2 bowl triples 24 end format with the teams selected randomly. Each of the 3 team members played 8 ends in each position (ie: lead, 2nd &skip) to add to the challenge.
The eventual winners were Phil Dowdell, Chris Earl & Ian Ross (37+17). Coming second was the team of Ray Doecke, Bruce Pettman & John Scudds (36+23). Malcolm McRobert, Jim Earl & Jeff Hollingsworth finished in third place (35+15) & rounding out the top four was the combination of Brentley Thomas, Max Richards & Rod Gibbs (35+13).
Other winners on the day were Phil Dowdell who won the meat tray raffle, supplied by Millicent Quality Meats with Bruce Pettman & Neil Whelan winning the second & third prizes of $25 petrol vouchers, donated for the raffle by K & S Fuels.
