5 THE FM’s new studio is open for business and it is a very exciting time in the life of the local station. Lifetime sponsor of 5THE FM Mr Bob Foster, Fosters Foodland Millicent made a surprise visit to the station and congratulated everyone on the upgrade and the stations on-going commitment to community.
Studio 1 was dismantled a while ago and during the longer than anticipated upgrade, the station has broadcast from a caravan in the heat of summer and from a kitchen table in a temporary studio set up.
John Drew and 5 THE FM’s Rebekah Lowe transferred operations to the new studio on Sunday 22nd December 2013. John has been instrumental in getting the technical side of the studio up and running and we are most grateful for his knowledge and commitment in seeing it through. Many a time John said, “I just like to get a job done once I start it,” and we would say,”we know John, so do we but we need to raise some more money.
” Speaking of money, the studio renovations are not fully complete with shelving for the music library a major hold up and more technical equipment needed to complete the 2 studios – more fundraising will be needed for this. We hope that you too will feel the satisfaction we feel at arriving at this stage of the up grade process because the majority of this was achieved because of local businesses who have sponsored the station, memberships and fundraising. Every raffle ticket bought by our community has helped us reach this day and we are so grateful to everyone who continues to support the station.
Thankyou everyone who has embraced our newsonline blog ‘wattlerangenow’, we are proud of both the quality of our live broadcast on air and our news blog and look forward to bringing you more quality radio and news in the new year.
