Senior Sergeant 1st Class Peter Brown urged everyone to take care on the roads over the busy holiday season when he visited 5 THE FM studios.  Speed, in-attention, not wearing seat belts, alcohol and drug use are all factors in road accidents and Sergeant Brown said that the police would have an increased presence in the local area over the Christmas and New Year season.

“The trauma of road accidents, injury and death continue to have a devastating affect on a community, and it is wide reaching. The immediate family never get over such a tragedy but the many people involved include the medical teams; ambulances and hospitals, the recovery services  of the SES and CFS; all are impacted by such a tragedy,” he said.

“If you intend to drink, make arrangements so that you don’t drive and don’t get into vehicle with a driver that has been drinking.”

He also urged people to keep possessions safe, lock vehicles and keep temptation out of the way.
