Ladies’ Championship Triples

A very hard fought battle saw the team of Esther Scudds (skip), Betty Pretty & Shirley Galpin defeat Elaine Goode (skip), Mary Clifford & Ros Varcoe in the final of the Ladies’ Championship Triples.

Esther’s team led narrowly for most of the day. On the last end scores were level, forcing the playing of an extra end. Esther’s team won by 1 shot.

Congratulations ladies, this is how a final should end.

Scott’s Petroleum 2-4-2

A beautiful summer’s day saw 43 bowlers take to the Hahn & Somerset Greens for a great  day of bowling in the Scott’s Petroleum 2-4-2. Among these were 2 visitors, Peter Rice (Kalangadoo) & Joe Fortanier (Willunga).

As well as bowling, we had our bi-monthly raffle with second prize of a bottle of wine going to Peter Varcoe & Neil Whelan taking away the first prize Millicent Quality Meats meat tray.

The winning team for the day was the team of Glenn Schapel & Bruce Pettman with 34+8. Second place went to Terry Chant & John Scudds who finished on 33+8.

Men’s Championship Fours

The 2014 Club Championship tournaments continued with the playing of the Men’s Fours Championship.

The team of John Scudds (skip), Iain Campbell, Alan Correll & David Crase got off to an early lead but their opposition wouldn’t let them get away.

After a lot of close ends through the middle part of the  match the team of Terry Barnes (skip), Rod Gibbs, Derk Pietersma & Neil Whelan were able to pull ahead & eventually run-out 20 to 11 winners.

Throughout the tournament there were some incredibly close games played & the eventual finalists all had to fight extremely hard to get there. Well done to the players & the organisers on another great day of bowls.
