Millicent will once again host a photographic competition with hundreds of photographs from the South East and beyond on display. Entries for the 2014 Rotary Photographic Art Show are now open, which attracts both professional and amateur photographers from across Australia each year.
Planning is well underway, and the committee is confident the fifth exhibition will be a successful event following on from the experiences and knowledge gained in previous years.
The support of major sponsors, including Infigen Energy, Kimberley-Clark, Wattle Range Council, Thompson Drilling and DiGiorgio Family Wines will allow for a substantial prize pool of more than $6,000.
Further sponsorship has also been received from Fosters Foodland, Hamilton, Hateley and Associates, Hurst Camera House, Atkins Technicolour and Lonergan and Muhovics.
Categories include Open, Landscape, Nature, Portrait, the Don Ferguson Award for a regional photographer and importantly the Under 19 Award which gives younger photographers a chance to showcase their work and be in the position to win a $500 award, there will also be runner up awards in all categories. The Peter Rapp Incentive Award will be awarded to a young photographer in the Under 19 age group who shows promise and warrants encouragement.
Organizer Mary Alschwager said, ” we are looking forward to all entries in all categories. We would also like to encourage those who qualify in the under 19 category to enter, as we enjoy the approach taken by many of them; thinking outside of the square creates interesting exhibits and a wide variety of entries.”
All entries must but be in by March 3, and photographs need to be submitted before March 28 in order to be eligible for judging.
The event will be officially opened on April 11 at the Civic and Arts Centre in Millicent with gourmet food and wine on offer.
