2014 Ladies’ Championship Pairs

A hard fought match took place on Thursday 23rd  January between Heather Carthew and Betty Pretty against Joan Greenwood and Maureen Elton in the final of the Ladies’ Championship Pairs.

Joan and Maureen stayed in touch early, but Heather and Betty pulled away to a creditable win.

The tournament was well represented and it was good to see so many bowlers turn out to watch the final.

2014 Men’s Championship Singles Final

A delay to complete the Millicent Bowling Club’s Men’s Singles Championship saw the final completed on Thursday 23rd January.

John Scudds & Steve Carnellor started the match very evenly, but midway through the game Steve took the lead & steadily pulled away to win shots 25 to 14.

The spectators on hand were certainly entertained.

Millicent Quality Meats’ 2-4-2

45 bowlers contested the Millicent Quality Meats’ 2-4-2 contest on Thursday 23rd January at the Millicent Bowling Club.

There were 2 regular visitors, Peter Rice & Joe Fortanier, & Norman Peart & Colin Pye shred 10 ends each to allow all bowlers to have a game.

Play took place on the Somerset & Scott Greens in pleasant SE weather.

In a first for our club, play in the Mod Cleaning 2-4-2 competition on Thursday 16th January started as a twilight contest at 5pm on the Hahn Green. This initiative was very well received by the 20 participants who took part in the match.

Winning teams were Joe Fortanier & Denis Clifford (30+1), David Botting & Cliff Elton (30+5), Norman Peart, Colin Pye & Glenn Schapel (31+2), Alby Cecotti & Steve Carnellor (31+4), Arnold Damhuis & John Scudds (31+6), John Drew & David Crase (32+5), Ed Fitter & Ian Ross (32+8) & finishing in third place was the combination of Dick Vanderheul & Rod Gibbs (33+20).

Runners up were Peter Saunders & Terry Barnes (34+16) & the eventual winners were Bill Fennell & Peter Scanlon with the fantastic final score of 36+27.

Chris’s Barber Shop haircut was won by Glen Jones. Our raffle 2nd prize (a massage donated by Alternate Life) went to Rob Chambers & Glenn Schapel won 1st prize, a meat tray supplied by Millicent Quality Meat’s.

Thank you all who took part & we look forward to seeing you again next Thursday.
