Vandals broke into the BBQs and Lake Mac and removed the gas bottles, both of which had substantial amounts of gas in them.

The theft of 2 gas bottles from Lake McIntyre has been reported to the local police.

Repairs had to be done to both BBQs before full replacement bottles were purchased and installed.

This is the second time in 8 months that gas bottles have been targeted by thieves and vandals at the lake.

We ask for all members of the community to be aware of what is happening around them when in public places such as the lake, parks or public toilets, to help reduce the number of these destructive and expensive acts of vandalism.

Editors comment: Councillor Ben Treloar told council at the last meeting on Tuesday11th February that he and his wife visited Lake Mac recently and he commended the volunteers on such a world class facility. He said he has visited many parks and lakes around Australia, including Kakadu, and Lake Mac is up there with any of these.

  1. This is a low act, any wonder many areas now only have electric BBQ facilities…..or none at all in many cases.
