Millicent Community Garden Chairperson Katherine Davies said this week on 5 THE FM, the idea of a community garden began about 2 years ago and just grew from there. The garden currently has about 30 raised garden beds with the opportunity to build more. Members of the community are invited to choose their own garden plot and seedlings will be available on the day.
There will be a free BBQ and morning tea will be provided by the Craft group.
The Community Garden is part of the new HUB on Fifth Street, in conjunction with the Craft Group, Millicent Lions Club and the Men’s Shed.
The opening will mark one year since the garden officially began.
Wattle Range Council will assist with leveling a larger area as the need arises for more plots.
Catherine said she has visions for the future which include a children’s garden, a pizza oven and twilight events.
People are invited to come and chat even if they don’t wish to garden.
