Not exactly an arm chair ride

Four people were lucky to escape injury when riding in  the back of a ute involved in a minor collision at Mt Burr overnight. A Millicent patrol spotted a ute driving on Mt Burr Rd at 1.10 am with four people sitting in a lounge chair in the back of the ute.

The patrol did a u-turn but before they could stop the ute, it pulled off to the side of the road and skidded into a tree. Fortunately no one was injured although the ute sustained minor damage.

The driver, a 19 year old Millicent man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.091. He was reported for drink driving and breaching the condition of his probationary licence.  His licence was suspended for six months and the ute impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to face court at a later date.

The investigation is still continuing into the dangerous behaviour of the passengers riding in the rear of the ute.
