Independent author Wendy Altschwager was a guest on 5 THE FM this morning. Ms Altschwager said she never thought about becoming an author until people began commenting that they loved her emails about her travels and general family life, and from this the idea of a book was born.
Four books later she is in Millicent to launch her eagerly awaited latest book, The Pledge. Local Member for McKillop Mitch Williams will officially launch The Pledge at the Millicent Library tonight as part of the Library’s 50th birthday celebrations.
She will share stories that lead to characters, plots and inspirations and how her husband has learned to sleep in spite of her pencil scratchings at 2-00 o’clock in the morning, when most good ideas are born. Tales about their travels, experiences, and characters they have met, tributes to local businesses of having groceries carried to the car, flying foxes in stores, and interviews with locals, all add up to what Wendy calls a novel of rural fiction.
The evening begins at 7-00 pm and everyone is welcome.
Refreshments will be served.
