The Anzac Day March and Service at the Cross of Sacrifice was broadcast live on 107.7 on Friday 25th April 2014, Wattle Range Community Radio Station situated in Millicent. This is the second time the station has broadcast ANZAC Day Commemorations and will continue to do so as an annual contribution to the men and women who fought for the freedom we enjoy today.
The SES joined with the station for the second time, providing their communications vehicle to broadcast from at the Cross of Sacrifice. This partnership between two community based organisations is an example of what can be achieved for the community, with such partnerships.
Broadcasting the Ceremony live, meant people who couldn’t attend could still be a part of the day and for those unable to attend through illness or age are still able to listen and be involved in this important day.
5THE FM management is grateful to the SES for their support in making this happen with the provision of their vehicle.
5THE FM ‘s Rebekah Lowe and John Drew manned the mics on the day and John read the poem ‘Flanders Field’ at the close of the service. Courtney McIntyre provided war era music from the 5THE FM studios through out the morning in the lead up to the beginning of the service and anchored throughout the live broadcast.
Audio of the service will be posted on WattleRangeNow in coming days. We will let you know when it has been done – stay tuned.
