Are you confused about what your children are doing online? Do you know much about selfies, chatrooms, KiK, Snapchat, and Club Penguin? Do you know what your children are logging on to? Are you worried about ‘online grooming’ but have no idea how to prevent it? If so, Limestone Coast Local Service Area police have an important cybersafety message coming your way later this year.
Grant District Council, with assistance from other councils in the area, and the LSA’s Drug Action Team have secured the services of cybersafety expert Susan McLean to make a series of presentations in the area in August.
From August 11 to 15 Ms McLean will be making presentations to all the high schools in the region as well as presenting special sessions to parents, caregivers, teachers and other service providers.
Among the information provided will be details on popular website for children, what young people do online, online grooming, sexting, misuse of technology, potential dangers and safety tips.
The sessions will be free, with tickets (which will be available closer to the date) to be made available through schools, councils and local police.
We will bring you more information closer to the time – so please share this with your community and stay tuned!
