The artists exhibiting have provided a brief summary of their interest in art and their particular style.
I’m a locally based artist originally from Coleraine in Western Victoria, but have resided in Penola now for over 35 years. I’ve always had a passion for the creative, but it wasn’t until retirement that I had the time to hone my skills. I work predominately with Acrylics and Watercolours, I’ve dabbled in oils, but very little. It was about 7 years ago that I took my first water colour class and my love for painting really grew from there. Nature is my favourite subject, focusing mostly on landscapes and floral pieces. I hope that you enjoy the pieces I’ve chosen for this exhibition.
I have been an artist for about 20yrs. I have tried many things and only came across the style I’m doing in April 2013 what I started with its called Zentangle it a form of meditation… I enjoyed how relax I felt doing it and that I was just using pen on paper… I started very simple but decided that I love the style of doing a mixture of Zentangle and Mandala art. .. I love a Challenge. ..my new creations, I enjoy working on large and geometrical designs…
I cover a range of mediums mainly photography, illustration and stencil graffiti. Influences include: Jon Burgerman, Kev Munday and Banksy who are big on the street scene in the UK. At the moment I am really focusing on photography which you can see in the work I’ll be displaying. This Series is hugely influenced by Laurent Chehere – french photographer. I really wanted to use the images I’d been taking around Millicent and the South East region to some good use. The pieces show colourful skies, birds, building and landscapes. If you look at the works produced you may be able to recognise areas, landmarks and the wildlife. All shots were taken in and around the region. Hope you enjoy 🙂 If you would like to see more of my work please visit my website – http://www.picket-works.com
FLOATING SOUTH EAST SERIES- Lucy Scollen (PiCKeT)
This series of work was hugely influenced by Laurent Chehere – french photographer. His work with levitating buildings and houses produced some stunning results so I really wanted to use the images I’d been taking around Millicent and the South East region to some good use. The work shows colourful skies, birds, building and landscapes. If you look at the works produced you may be able to recognise areas/landmarks and the wildlife. All shots were taken in and around the region. Hope you enjoy
I have a variety of styles and influences in my work which stem from my design background
I’ve always enjoyed art as a way of expressing my feelings. Within the last 5 years it has been my way of dealing with my anxiety and depression. I only ever used lead pencil for my drawings, and in the last few years I have discovered my love for painting with acrylic this is now my focus medium. My latest work has mostly consisted of the naked female form, some being realistic body shapes and others with a more abstract style.
