The last minor round was played of the Millicent Open 8-Ball was played last Wednesday night with a surprising result. Soccer Club were able to finish with a win against the top side Somerset Rogues, 9 games to 6, ensuring them of a spot in the finals next week against third placed Crazy Critters. Soccer Club has become a competitive force as the season has progressed & has every opportunity to advance further into the finals, while the Critters have been a little inconsistent, probably still thinking of last year’s premiership win!
In other games, Club Hustlers defeated Club Shooters 11 games to 4, and Crazy Critters shattered any hope of Noel’s Barbarians making the finals winning 10 games to 5. Somerset Legends finished the season with a bye.
The end of the minor rounds brings us to the finals and the first semi is Strop’s Crazy Critters up against Gloria Douglass’s Soccer Club, being played this Wednesday 10 August, 7:30pm at the Community Club. Anything can happen in the finals, with each game being played best of three. The second Semi, to be played at the Community Club the following Wednesday, will be between Somerset Rogues & Club Hustlers.
Non-playing members are encouraged to come along to the finals & umpire a game. The quality of games & supper will be well worth it. In previous years umpires have been scarce & this puts a lot of pressure on the individuals that are there, forcing them to umpire several games making it a long & tiresome night.
I also encourage the whole Community to come along & enjoy some very high quality & entertaining 8Ball!
