I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people from Corcoran Ward for their support over the last 8 years by trusting me in representing them on the Wattle Range Council. I feel that I still have more to offer and would like to stand for re-election in September for a further term. I hope to be able to continue on being a voice for all members of our community.
When I first stood for council in 2006, I wanted to make a difference to waste management and feel this has achieved this with the opening of our resource recovery facilities.
I am passionate about the re-introduction of net fishing at Lake George, as this would be a wonderful opportunity to bring more money into the town of Beachport to help it grow. We need to be able to generate more employment in our region, but not at the cost of our environment or resources. I also want to see the construction of a mini BMX track, that has been promised and now in the pipeline to replace the old track.
Most readers would be aware, as I have probably sold them a raffle ticket or two, that I am an active fundraiser for the Leukaemia Foundation, the immediate past president and remain on the committee of the Tantanoola Football Club and also on the committee of the Millicent Community Builders, who do a fantastic job of beautifying our town.
Now that I am working in Millicent for Malseeds Real Estate, I hope to be able to spend even more time in my community.
