Colin Pye decided to nominate for Council in the coming elections after moving to Millicent and becoming involved in various community groups over the past 4 years. His community work writing the sport reports for wattlerangenow.com for over 12 months. Colin has provided the following message for our readers:-

Originally from Sydney, I worked for more than 25 years in management roles in the agricultural chemical and pharmaceutical industries in production, warehousing and distribution before relocating to Queensland to work in transport company management.
Since retiring in 2010 my wife and I have made Millicent our home and in the past 4 years I have been involved as a foundation member and current Secretary of the Millicent Respiratory Support Group, current Secretary and Media Officer of Probus Club of Millicent and current Publicity Officer and Board Member of the Millicent Bowling Club.
I see a strong future for the Wattle Range and if elected to Council my priorities are to help achieve the building of a stronger community by:
-community values – encouraging people that if they see something that is not right to fix it or report it
-community spirit – promoting and supporting community events, local businesses and taking pride in our towns and district
-community growth – urging people to join one of the many service groups in the district, help build a stronger local volunteer base and support local charities
With internal growth and strength of the Wattle Range District we will be better able to attract industry and tourism to the towns and beaches that make our region a special place to be.
