The Millicent Business Community Association, (MBCA) met this week for their regular general meeting and a topic of discussion prominent on the agenda was the MBCA Outstanding Business Awards. Posters and nomination forms are being distributed to day (Friday) to local businesses. Members of the community are encouraged to nominate local businesses in four categories and individuals in two categories.
The Categories are:
- Outstanding Businesses in Agricultural/Horticultural
- Manufacturing and Construction,
- Service Industry
- Retail Industry
Individual Employee Categories are:-
- Employee of the Year
- Rotary Young Employee of the Year
The MBCA has hosted the Most Outstanding Awards for the last three years with this year being the fourth annual celebration of local business. Each year the awards have grown in popularity and people are encouraged to attend the ceremony to help promote and recognize the contribution local business makes to the local economy and encourage shopping local.
Members of the Community are also encouraged to support these awards by nominating their local business; writing a short story of 25 words or more, why they have nominated their winning choice in the specific category. The idea of a 25 word story has been adopted this year so that the community learns more about local business and their particular outstanding contribution in service or a particular act that should be recognized.
If you have received outstanding service or a kind act outside of your normal expectations, this is your opportunity to acknowledge the business or the person.
Judging will be carried out by an independent panel of judges who are not committee members or business owners.
Official nomination boxes to lodge your choice, are available at Wattle Range Council, the SE Times Office and the Millicent Visitor Information Office.
Nomination must be lodged by close of business Friday 17th October and winners will be announced on Friday 31st October at the Awards Cocktail Party at the Somerset Hotel.
Millicent Rotary Club are sponsors of the Young Employee of the Year.
The Business winning the Mayoral Award is chosen by the Mayoral Office and recognizes 25 years or more in business in the region and contribution to community.
Photographs of all nominees will be arranged by 5THE FM/wattlerangenow a week before the announcement in preparation for the award presention evening and all are encouraged to attend the ceremony on the 31st.
