Former local vet Kevin McGrath has lived in the area for 29 years and through his work as a vet has travelled the highways and by-ways of Wattle Range both rural and suburban. Recently Kevin and wife Toni handed the business over to family and Kevin said on 5THE FM this week that he now has time to be more involved in council matters. He has always been interest in community matters and is looking forward to the opportunity to a more active role in local government.
Kevin said he is concerned about the rates saying he believes they are too high especially for the landowner. He wants to be actively involved in the council budget, finding better ways to manage it rather than just through raising rates.
‘I have a business background and understand business principles and this will be important in dealing with council matters.’
‘I know the region, there would not be many roads I haven’t travelled as a vet, there would not many people I don’t know and through my work I have learned about many of the issues facing people.’
‘I have retired now and I have more time to spend in council.’
‘I have worked in the community in many areas, including church, farming organisations and community groups. I have raised 4 children in the area, have served farmers and urban pets, communicating with them all.
‘I know this region well and I would like the opportunity to represent them on council.’
