Firearms offences in Millicent

SAPOL

Police have reported a man for firearms offences as the result of an audit conducted on his house by Millicent Police.

It is alleged that a loaded air rifle was found stored insecurely in a shed and shotgun ammunition was found in the bottom of a wardrobe.

The 84-year-old Millicent man was reported for having an insecure firearm and insecure ammunition will be summonsed to appear in the Millicent Magistrates Court at a later date.

Significant responsibility comes with ownership of firearms as breaches can result in safety risks and increase the chances of firearms being stolen. Police conduct regular firearms audits and action will be taken against owners who don’t comply with the requirements of the Firearms Act.
