Three separate gatherings in different locations across South Australia will be the focus of the State Aboriginal Women’s Gathering. The first was held in Port Augusta today (Thursday) and will be followed by gatherings in Adelaide and Mt Gambier in early 2015.
Status of Women Minister Gail Gago said the new format will make it more accessible for women in regional areas of the state.
The previous gathering have been held in Adelaide over two-and-a-half days.
“The State Government has worked closely with the State Aboriginal Women’s Gathering Working Group to prepare today’s informative agenda for the 25 registered participants,” the Minister said.
“The new format will enable women to participate in their own communities.”
The Office for Women has launched a new State Aboriginal Women’s Gathering Linkedin group to network and share information about employment and skills transition.
