Update: Four deceased in South-East road crash

Tonight, Police remain at the scene of a tragic road crash in the State’s South- East. which has claimed the lives of four people.

Just before midday, a utility and truck collided which then careered into a Ford 4WD at the intersection of the Princes Highway and Main Road at Hatherleigh, just north of Millicent.

Tragically four people travelling in the Ford 4WD have died at the scene.

A 22-year-old man from Robe who was driving the Ford, and three passengers in the rear of the vehicle, a 68-year-old woman from Victoria, a 45-year-old woman from Mt Gambier and a 16-year-old girl from Mt Gambier, all died at the scene.

Three men, the driver of the utility, the driver of the truck and the front passenger of the Ford 4WD, were all taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police Major Crash Investigators remain at the crash site, with the Princes Highway still closed to all traffic.

Police said tonight, four persons are deceased, two of the injured were taken to the Millicent Hospital and one was later taken to Mt Gambier Hospital; a passenger in the 4WD was also taken to the Mt Gambier Hospital.

This latest tragedy brings the States’ road toll to 92 compared to 91 at the same time last year.
