Man reported for arson and theft

SAPOL

A man from South Australia’s south-east has been reported for arson and theft as a result of a police investigation into a deliberately lit fire in a Valmet log forwarder located in a pine forest area at Mt McIntyre earlier this month.

The machine was totally destroyed in the blaze on 11 January, with damage estimated to be about $100,000.

It is alleged that before the machine was set on fire communications equipment was stolen from it.

Some of that property has been recovered.

The 20-year-old accused will be summonsed to appear in the Millicent Magistrates Court at a later date.

The police investigation is ongoing in relation to other offenders and anyone who has information about this offence is asked to ring Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online https://sa.crimestoppers.com.au/
