Video footage of a community forum held in Mt Gambier to discuss the illicit drug known as ‘ice’ will be screened across the state’s south-east in coming weeks.
The forum, ‘Understanding the Ice Factor’ was held on Thursday evening at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre to provide information about crystal methamphetamine (‘ice’) use.
Interest in the community was high with the theatre full on the evening and more than 200 people turned away at the door.
The officer in charge of the Limestone Coast Local Service Area Superintendent Trevor Twilley said the overwhelming response “reflected the community’s willingness to become informed and demonstrated their support to work collaboratively to address the presence of ‘ice’ in our community.”
“This is an issue for all of Australia, not just our region,” he noted.
“We filmed this very important community forum and will be re-playing the footage at a date in the near future both in Mt Gambier and surrounding towns.
“I would urge people to keep an eye on the SA Police local news page – at http://www.police.sa.gov.au/sa-police-news-assets/limestone-coast-local-service-area – for dates.
“We will make full details available as soon as possible.”
