Car crash after avoiding kangaroo

SAPOL

A teenager and his passenger are lucky to have escaped serious injury after swerving to avoid hitting a kangaroo at German Creek in the State’s south east late last night.

At about 10pm, a 17-year-old from Mount Gambier, was driving along Carpenter Rocks Road when he swerved to avoid the kangaroo and careered down a four metre embankment before coming to rest on the roof.

He and his passenger managed to climb out of the smashed rear windscreen.

No action taken against the driver and police would like to remind motorists that if they are confronted by animals on the road, they should brake and not swerve to avoid the animal.
