Millicent CFS firefighter, Mr Brian Johnston has been honoured with a Memorial in the 2015 CFS Year Book

“Mr Johnston joined the CFS in 1965 and served a volunteer for 49 years. He was a highly experienced officer and firefighter and a member of the Millicent brigade and also a DGO with the Wattle Range Group. He was an active and well respected member of CFS and the broader Millicent community,” the memorial said.
“Wattle Range Deputy Group Officer (DGO) Brian Johnson was fatally injured late afternoon on Tuesday 9th December 2014 following a collision between his stationary vehicle and an appliance responding to a fire near Rendelsham in the state’s South East.”
The CFS also honoured Andrew Harrison a Lieutenant and active member of the Mt Templeton CFS who lost his life at the Nantawarra Fire on October 31st 2014.
Both men were honoured at the inaugural National Memorial Service for Fire and Emergency Services Personnel. Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Governor General Sir Peter Cosgrove presented medals to the families.
Emergency Services Minister Tony Piccolo has announced that from next year an annual South Australian Memorial will be held on May 4th – St Florian’s Day, the Patron Saint of Firefighters.
